Matilda!

Wednesday!

Despite the shenanigans of the night before (we ended up staying up quite late), 2/3 of us were able to wake up at the planned time of 6:30am to go waiting in line at the theater to get 5 pound Matilda tickets! We sat outside the theater for 3 hours talking, doing homework, and generally increasing our solidarity and then bought our fabulously cheap tickets at 10 when the box office opened. The theater was in a nice part of town, so it was great to sit so early in the morning and watch the street slowly come alive.

Snacks and homework and friends!

Here's a flower box that was just way to cool not to take a picture of.

Tickets in hand, we came back to our flat and had a French toast party! It was so delicious! Good food and good company are always a treat. :] Then some of us napped, some of us did homework, then the four of us headed out to go to our Matilda matinee!

Not bad seats for 5 pounds! I LOVED Matilda! Those kids are so incredibly talented and beautifully carried the show. The music was spectacular, and I love the story. Its sad and a little dark, but so touching. I especially love the story Matilda tells of the acrobats throughout the play.

The hungry musical-goers then went in search of food. Walking down the street, we saw this down the alley way!

So colorful! It was incredible! Through this and down the street a bit we found a cheap but DELICIOUS café. I got a baguette Panini with bacon, ham, and cheese. SO GOOD.

Look at those hooligans! So cute!

After the play we made our way to the BFI to see The Lady from Shanghai. Due to our early start, I fell asleep...for just the tiniest bit!! It was a pretty good movie though, starring/made by Orson Welles. I was ready to just head home and sleep, but a bunch of girls were going out to get mocktails for Lauren's 21st birthday, and I decided to join them. And I'm glad I did! I got a cucumber mocktail that was delicious and we had a grand time.

Also...this video happened.

Thanks Alexis for being a stalker. :D I do love dem lemons though. I've been missing eating my momma and dadda's lemons on their drinks...

Oh! On the escalator down to the tube, Megan saw Alistair Petrie! He plays the officer in the Sherlock episode The Sign of Three--the reclusive office that they have to save. I was soooo mad because my one regret I've had living here is that I haven't seen a celebrity casually on the streets!! Ahh, alas. I'll just have to come back and visit again. :]

Whew! What a long but fabulous day!
